Poker Chips SmallAs the poker world was turning its attention to events in Monaco and the €100,000 Super High Roller at the PokerStars Monte-Carlo®Casino European Poker Tour Grand Final, back in the United States Tommy Vedes was being crowned the latest World Poker Tour champion, beating John Dolan, a former November-Niner, heads-up on his way to a first prize of $779,520 at the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown $10,000 main event.

Vedes topped the field of 290 players to win his second WPT title following his success in 2009 at the WPT Festa al Lago, worth $1,200,000. He had originally been the short stack coming into the six-handed final, with Joe Serock, a finalist in the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star last month, holding a big lead. Serock would go on to bust in third, as he had the month before, as Vedes made his comeback.

As runner-up Dolan collected 459,360 ahead of Serock, Craig Bergeron in fourth, Sharon Levin in fifth and Kyle Bowker in sixth. For more details about the event and the World Poker Tour, go to the WPT website.
