BARNEY FRANK ADMITS ONLINE POKER BILL UNLIKELY IN 2012
Now Congressman Frank, who retires after 32 years in the US House of Representatives later this year, has said that even he now doubts there will be any movement on a legalised form of the game in the US in 2012.
The full transcript of the interview can be found on PokerNews, in which Frank explains that poker will no longer be the focus of his remaining months in office.
“I’d like to do it but I’m not optimistic,” said Frank. “It’s still possible. (Senate Majority Leader Harry) Reid wants to do it. A lot of people here want to do it. It might get done in the lame duck. It could get done as part of an overall package. But I think other things will replace it.”
However, Frank maintains that changes to the law will occur in the next few years.
